【概要/Overview】
Ka-ge RaはARTnSHLTERレジデンスアーティストのイーラン・ラファエルによる滞在制作成果発表展示会です。プラトンにより想像された架空のキャラクターでもあるKa-ge raは名前の持つ力と、その名前を与えられたものの本質的な力を疑問視し、展示会ではナレーターとして、日本のアーティストをリファレンスに使った作品と作家が作品制作に行き着くまでの経緯をカラフルな作風で案内します。
Ka-ge Ra is an amorphous, god-like being whose primary purpose was to name all objects and creatures within it’s world from reading. It is a fictional character born from reading Plato’s Cratylus, a dialogue on the nature of names and whether they hold some intrinsic truth or are but arbitrary labels we place upon objects. Each character created for the exhibition was inspired by a predefined set of Japanese artists and artworks, both traditional and modern. This exhibition aims to illustrate one person’s journey and development as he explored Japanese culture over the last 3 months for the first time.
